Sweet Grandma Millie

This past Friday evening, Grandma Millie was lifted into the loving arms of Jesus around midnight at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Although she was Kyle's grandma, Millie certainly treated me like one of her grandchildren. I lived with Millie during my first summer of PT school.

Millie had just turned 90 last month, and she had a huge birthday party at the VFW in Northfield over Memorial Day weekend. The party itself was a true testament of how many friends Millie had, as the place was packed. Millie unfortunately went into the hospital a few weeks later with respiratory failure, and she never was able to recover from it. Kyle and I made the trip up to the cities on Thursday evening after work. Although sweet Millie slept a majority of the time we were there, she did wake up for awhile, and we were able to talk to her. Even in her final days, she was as sharp as a pin - asking about the Twins, our living situation, and yes, she was aware of the new great-grandchild on its way in January. We know that she will be watching over us in January, 2013.

According to Kyle's mom, Millie was in good spirits on Friday up until her final moments on this earth. She even had requested that curlers were put in her hair earlier in the day. We can only image her dancing away with her husband, Percy, who had passed away 7 years earlier, in Heaven that night.
